What's on tap for this week and Monday Links
Good morning Realdawgers and I hope you had a great 4th of July weekend. Here in the Dawghouse there wasn't much time for rest and relaxation, however, as we continue to tweak the new site and answer the many emails and questions of those few readers who are having trouble logging on. Be patient -- we're fortunate there's no real bugs, but for first-time users things can get a little confusing. SITE NEWS: To answer a few questions, the user name issue has come up repeatedly but we have not yet rolled out the message board forums. For that reason, the user name option is not yet available. Some users are using a work-around which enables them to comment on articles with their old handle. This involves going into your Account Settings and changing the first nam… -

Independence Day: We are the American Dream
Today we celebrate the independence of our country, but to me, there's another kind of independence that I'm pretty thankful for, and that's the autonomy of this website. America was built on the shoulders of people who started from scratch and dreamed big dreams, and in an era of the heavy-hand of corporations, it's not easy to keep those dreams alive. Thankfully, we've kept our wits about us through some very tough times and come out on the other side. It's easy to "sell out" in this day and age; to hitch your wagon to the back of a megaload and let others pull you. We did that for awhile with Realdawg.com. In the summer of 2000, this site was born, but we weren't subscription-based and didn't have the slightest idea what we were … -

The Best and Worst of Husky Stadium: 10 things we won't miss
For those of us who have spent a good deal of time at Husky Stadium, the rennovations are going to be nothing short of fabulous. If this is truly the last year the Dawgs will play in THIS version of Husky Stadium, let's take a minute to reflect on those little things we won't miss when the new house is built... 1. THE TRACK -- oh who WON'T miss the track? That thing that separates fans from their Dawgs? You think it's loud now, wait till that track is history. Sorry you silly Duck fans, but your little stadium won't have anything on Husky Stadium now or in the future noise-wise. 2. The peeling paint in the lower sections. They go over it every year and every year you're lucky if you don't get a splinter in your butt before the end of the season. … -

Fun Duck Headlines
The biggest talk of the town right now is that Oregon saga. It's pure entertainment for rabid Husky fans who love to see them suffer. So for those Hungry Dawgs who can't get enough, here's a quick rundown of some links that have popped up late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.. Enjoy! Oregon latest team to land on NCAA hit list -- The Pensacola News Journal (They're even talking about it in Florida) We've known the Oregon Ducks were cheaters for years -- SBNation Oklahoma Site (This is a riot, their facts are a little skewed but it's good for a chuckle) Questions remain about Oregon's business deals with Lyles -- The Register Guard (Their own hometown papers are turning on them now...sound familiar?) Chip Kelly … -

Chips-A-Hoy!
Okay, okay...so this is somewhat of a sick enjoyment I'm getting out of reading these dreadful and egregious things. But it's so good. I just can't help it. Perhaps it's because Washington, while they owned (and still do own) the Oregon program endured years of barbs and name-calling, "probation nation", "the legend of Billy Joe", stuff like that. Oregon fans were as foul-mouthed and frothing as a group of hyenas when they see a baby lion cub. Isn't it amazing how the tables turn? Oh and let us not forget the "skippy" torment during the Neuheisel saga; he lied, he cheated, and he got fired. Oregon fans had a field day with the insults. So I suppose it's only human to get a slight charge out of the writhing and gnashing of… -

Friday Pac-12 Press Box
Trying to make early predictions about how things will shape up in the Pac-12 this year is difficult. The typical banter right now is that Oregon will be highly favored, despite having lost most of their linemen and the fact that they have to travel to LSU to start the season, but oh well..Personally? I'm not putting anything past the Tree this year. But that's all for a later article. This Friday morning blog will be a regular feature and its primary purpose is to give fans some good reading material on who's doing what in the conference. Remember Husky fans, you have to start paying attention to the Utah Utes and CU Buffs. And for this year, at least, no one has to give a rip about UCLA or ASU (although it will be interesting to see how Brett Hundley is able to co… -

A new day in the Oregon Saga
It seemed the well of information dried up for a few days in the Tale of Terror called Oregon Football. But Thursday was a good day for those of you who like to watch the best college football program that money can buy crash and burn and go down as fast as they came up... This was a very good rundown of the whole saga in the Los Angeles Times today. Two of my favorite quotes from the article: "Obviously the Ducks were not paying Lyles for a fraudulent recruiting list of players that have already graduated, so what exactly did the school get for its $25,000? The answer could be LaMichael James and Lache Seastrunk, running backs at Oregon" And.. " Ohio State and USC have been powerhouses for decades and will overcome any thing the NCAA throws at them, b… -
