Richmond, CA. (Pinole Valley HS) defensive tackle, Deonte Reynolds reminds his high school coach of a young D'Marco Farr, and his coach would know since he also coached Farr many years ago.
Reynolds, who's 6-5, 295 and runs the 40 in 5 flat, is exactly what you'd want in a big, physical, beastly d-tackle.
He has quick feet, great upper body strength and just plays a physical game of football.
"I love to get after the quarterback", he says with a snicker.
It's still pretty early in his recruitment, but Reynolds earned his first offer this week -- and it came from up North.
"The Washington Huskies offered me yesterday", Reynolds said, "That's my only offer so far, but Oregon and Colorado are recruiting me too."
Tosh Lupoi looks to be leading the charge in the recruitment of Reynolds, "I like Washington", he said, "I'm going to take an unofficial visit up there in April."
Reynolds is a big guy who's getting bigger too, "I'm still growing", he laughed, and that's what will make him an even more valuable commodity on the West Coast recruiting market as the months go by and we hit full-steam in the 2013 season.
As we said, Reynolds has a real quick first step and he gets good leverage. He's hard to stop one-on-one because of his shear size and he's able to keep blockers away from his lower body. Reynolds does love to get to the passer and can get into the backfield quickly because he is so hard to block.
He's a guy who will flourish at the next level and his ceiling is extremely high.
Right now he has no plans to attend any combines or camps, but that doesn't mean he won't -- it's just not something he's given a lot of thought too yet.
Reynolds is a former teammate of Husky safety, Travis Feeney.
