McGuff Signs Three

SEATTLE – Kevin McGuff has been at Washington just a little over seven months, but his tireless work in recruiting is already paying dividends.

On Thursday, the Husky women’s basketball coach announced three recruits have signed National Letters of Intent with UW. The highly regarded trio of Katie Collier, Heather Corral and Airashay Rogers will fill immediate program needs and has the potential to be one of Washington’s highest-ranked classes in years.

Katie Collier

6-3 forward / Covington, Wash.

Athletic post player who has a great combination of size, agility and strength … tremendous shot-blocker … plays club ball for Tree of Hope … known for her mobility and versatility on defense … recognized for her ability to lead on the court vocally … led Seattle Christian to a 21-7 record last season … both mother and older brother are UW alums ... ranked the No. 21 player in the nation by HoopGurlz … No. 23 in the nation by All-Star Girls Basketball Report … currently listed as the No. 4 forward in the country.

Heather Corral

6-1 guard / Vancouver, Wash.

Possesses great basketball IQ, a scorer’s mentality and is a consistent deep threat … can play either guard position, but prefers point … has a 3.91 GPA at Prairie High School … wants to attend UW Medical School … averaged 15.5 points for Prairie as a junior … sister Ashley Corral is a senior guard at Pac-12 rival USC … plays AAU ball for the Columbia Cascades.

Airashay Rogers

5-7 guard / Renton, Wash.

Quick and shifty with the ball and great at distributing to open shooters … one of the top scorers in the state of Washington … averaged 26.0 points, 9.4 rebounds and 6.5 steals for Hazen … ranked No. 90 in the class of 2012 by Hoop Gurlz … plays AAU ball with Collier at Tree of Hope … ranked the 19th best point guard in the nation.
